A note from the farmer

“We grow Kelty Farm beef that is grass fed and grass finished, free of chemicals so that you can eat the best in quality.”

— Rex Williams, Kelty Farm

Why organic, why chemical free

Seven reasons our meat is different from anything else in Tasmania.

Every cut from Kelty Farm comes with the seal of Australian Certified Organic. That certification is built on these standards — held without compromise.

01

Tasmanian grown

The only certified organic meat in Tasmania, raised entirely on the island.

02

No synthetic inputs

Cattle and pigs raised on pasture without synthetic fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides.

03

No hormones

Strict prohibition of growth hormones — full stop, no exceptions.

04

No antibiotics

No antibiotic use in any organic certified meat product leaving the farm.

05

100% grass fed & finished

Cattle free to roam lush green pasture. They are never fed any grain.

06

Free range

Cattle and pigs roam freely across the pastures of Kelty Farm.

07

ACO certification

The seal of Australian Certified Organic — compliance with National Standards.

How we care for our animals

Welfare isn’t a feature — it’s the whole farm.

Free range

Our cattle and pigs roam freely on pastures across Kelty Farm.

100% grass fed

Cattle and pigs consume natural diets; pigs are supplemented with additional organic foods.

Healthy diet

No use of harmful chemicals or supplements to artificially maintain the ‘health’ of our animals.

Stocking rate

No exploitation of the land to increase output. We rely on the farm’s natural fertility — no supplementary feed for cattle.

Antibiotics

Used only in exceptional, life-saving circumstances. Treated animals are removed from the organic production process.

Animal welfare at Kelty

“We make sure our animals have the best quality of life from the beginning to the end.”

— Rex Williams, Kelty Farm
